- Fever or rigors with jaundice

- hypotension or sepsis physiology
- confusion or encephalopathy
First actions / assessment
- ABCDE first if unwell
- assess whether the patient has sepsis, liver failure, biliary obstruction, or a more indolent cause
- record full vitals, mental status, hydration, and perfusion
