Haematuria
Assess urgently for significant bleeding, urinary tract obstruction, malignancy, infection, stones, and nephrological or traumatic causes.

- severe flank or abdominal pain
First actions / assessment
- ABCDE first if unwell
- determine whether bleeding is visible or microscopic and whether there is associated pain, clots, dysuria, retention, fever, flank pain, trauma, recent instrumentation, or lower urinary tract symptoms
- record full vitals, hydration/perfusion, urine output if possible, and assess severity of ongoing bleeding
