- ABCDE first
- record full vitals, GCS if altered, and capillary glucose immediately
- determine whether the problem is acute sudden-onset unsteadiness, progressive gait ataxia, vertigo-related imbalance, weakness-related gait difficulty, or toxic/metabolic unsteadiness
